Where and when do I meet my driver?

At the DMV office where your test is booked. We don't do home pickup or drop-off. Your driver texts or calls when they arrive and meets you 10 minutes before your test, or 1 hour before with Test + Boost. You meet them at the front of the office or in the parking lot, whichever is easier on the day.

Who provides the car and driver?

A licensed California driving school we partner with. The car comes with current registration and proof of insurance. You book, pay and ask questions with us.

Can I use a regular rental car for my DMV driving test?

Some rental companies restrict the use of their vehicles for driving tests. Customers should review the applicable rental agreement and obtain permission before relying on a traditional rental vehicle. The DMV also requires your name on the rental contract.

What documentation do you provide for the DMV?

The vehicle's valid California registration and proof of insurance. The DMV requires both before the drive test begins — they belong to the driving school's car, which is why your driver stays with you rather than handing over the keys.

What is your cancellation policy?

Something on our side stops the test: full refund. If the vehicle breaks down, the paperwork isn't right, or anything else on our end means the test can't go ahead, you get 100% back. The test can't go ahead for a reason on your side: no refund. Wrong documents, the wrong DMV location, or not being ready to test. The vehicle and driver were there, so the service counts as delivered. You cancel more than 48 hours before your appointment: refund minus a $70 fee. Tell us as early as you can and we'll refund everything except the fee. You cancel within 48 hours, or don't show up: no refund. Your driver and vehicle are booked and paid for your appointment slot by then, so the cost is already committed. The DMV closes your appointment and we hear in time: free reschedule. If the office closes for weather or any other reason and we find out early enough to reach you before your driver sets out, we move you to a new date at no charge.

How much does it cost to rent a car for a driving test?

Test Only is $249. Test + Boost is $369 and adds a warm-up drive near your DMV before your test. Both include a test-ready car, its current registration and proof of insurance, and a licensed California driver.

What is Test + Boost?

Your driver meets you at the DMV an hour before your test instead of 10 minutes before. You drive the streets near the office for about 50 minutes with a licensed driving instructor from the partner school, then check in together. By the time the examiner gets in, you know the car.

What is included in the rental price?

A test-ready automatic car, its current registration and proof of insurance, a licensed California driver, a quick tour of the car's controls, and help with DMV check-in.

Why does pricing vary between DMV test car rental services?

A lot can go wrong before you drive at all: the vehicle inspection, the document check, and the check that a licensed driver is with you. Our price covers a car kept to the DMV's checklist, its current registration and proof of insurance, and a licensed driver who meets you at the DMV and helps you check in.

What happens if I fail my driving test? Can I re-rent?

Yes. You can rebook with us at the standard rate for your next test. Returning customers who previously tested with us receive 10% off their next booking. The DMV sets waiting periods, fees, attempt limits and scheduling rules, which depend on your age and your application. Check the California DMV for the rules that apply to you.

What is your safety and driver readiness policy?

Our services are intended for customers who already have basic driving ability and are preparing for their DMV behind-the-wheel test. A driver may refuse or stop service if a customer has little or no prior driving experience, cannot safely control the vehicle, appears impaired or medically unable to drive safely, creates a risk to any person, vehicle, or property, refuses reasonable safety instructions, or engages in threatening, abusive, or dangerous behavior. If a service must be stopped for safety reasons, the appointment may be terminated without refund, as the driver and vehicle have already been dispatched. Customers who are not ready to drive safely should be referred to a separately licensed driving school for appropriate training before scheduling a test-day service.

When do I have to convert my international driver's license to a California license?
