Most of this isn't a service we chose to bundle. It's what the DMV requires before a drive test can start.
A vehicle prepared for the pre-drive inspection
Before the drive begins the examiner checks the car against the DMV's Pre-Drive Checklist — brake lights, turn signals, horn, foot and parking brakes, mirrors, tires, wipers, defroster, seat belts. If one required item fails, your test can be rescheduled. Your car comes from a licensed driving school that keeps it ready for that check; final acceptance is determined by the DMV examiner.
Current registration and proof of insurance, in the car
Both have to be produced before the drive test starts. They belong to the driving school's car, which is why your driver stays with you rather than handing over the keys.
A California-licensed driver who stays for the appointment
The DMV requires one for permit holders: 18 or older for adults, 25 or older if you're under 18. Only the examiner rides with you during the test itself; your driver is there for arrival, check-in and departure.
Someone who has done this before
Your driver meets you at the DMV, helps you check in, and hands the examiner the vehicle's paperwork. You are not working out the process on your own on the day of your test.
Booking the DMV appointment
You arrange that with the DMV directly. You need a confirmed appointment before you book a car with us.
Home pickup or drop-off
We meet you at the DMV office where your test is booked. Your driver calls or texts on arrival and meets you at the entrance or in the parking lot.
A second appointment, if you need one
You can rebook at the standard rate. Returning customers who previously tested with us receive 10% off their next booking.
Submitting sends a request. Nothing is charged until we confirm a driver for your date.
